"Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?" -Charles Bukowski-- Society places so many pressures on us. The pressure to be successful, put- together, kind, ambitious, and stable, to name a few. But how do we define them? They become so arbitrary, making them difficult to achieve. So we fall short. We believe we fail. And in comes the negative self talk. In comes the fear. In comes the shame. Therapy can be beneficial to break those cycles of negative self talk and shame. It can be beneficial to explore beliefs and values, and letting those drive who you were meant to be. I use techniques based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Systems, Shame Cycle, Values and Strengths Based to treat clients. Often negative self talk is based on irrational thoughts, and it's important to explore and better understand these thoughts in order to challenge and address them.
