I see counseling as a process in which the client and the counselor work together in achieving a safe environment of understanding, mutual respect, and trust. We work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life, and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals. I work with clients in a variety of formats including individual, couples, family, and group therapy. I also offer 1, 2, or 3 day "marriage intensives" in either the Haughton office or through teletherapy. Please contact me for more information on intensives. I approach counseling from an integrative perspective, utilizing a number of empirically supported therapies including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Marital Research therapies in a systemic framework. I offer marriage intensives through the Smalley Institute. I know what it is like to face the unknown . . . what it feels like to sit on the other side of the counseling office . . . and I have learned through it all that there is nothing we can not do with God's help! I would love to help you find the same peace in your relationship that my wife and I have found. In fact, I've devoted my life to it!!!
