Painful losses and traumatic experiences that accumulate through the course of our lives can hamper day to day functioning. Psychotherapy can help you understand yourself more deeply, to include how earlier traumatic experiences impact your interpersonal functioning, as well as how you see yourself and engage the world around you. As a West Indian and therapist of color, I have a deep understanding and regard for the historical and cultural landscapes that help to inform "who we are as a race". I am committed to creating a space where you can explore issues surrounding migration, acculturation and identity safely. While I utilize an array of therapeutic modalities to effect change, I am certified in EMDR (offered in office) and Cognitive Processing Therapy, both modalities are effective in treating complex trauma. I have extensive experience working with sexual trauma, drug and sexual addictions, infidelity, infertility, grief and loss, depression, anxiety and anger. I am an experienced psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker. I acquired my Master of Social Work degree at Barry University in 2009, and I am currently completing a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania.
