Dr. Barnes is a native Mississippian, earning his B.A. in Psychology from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS, and his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. He has worked in academic, private, community, school, and state psychiatric settings as well as VA medical centers. Dr. Barnes completed his internship at the VA North Texas Health Care System followed by a fellowship at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, specializing in addictive disorders. Dr. Barnes treats anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, and many other conditions, in addition to performing assessments for these and other concerns, such as ADHD and learning disabilities. Throughout his training and work Dr. Barnes has received various honors and awards for achievement and service, and he is passionate about evidence-based practice and fostering awareness of mental health conditions. Dr. Barnes is licensed in the state of Mississippi and is now accepting new clients.
